Pornography, the Internet and the Law
Gay Cumbria is a pornography free site as it always has been and always will be. This is the webmaster’s choice, as he feel’s there are plenty of gay porn sites out there for those that want them. The Internet is a big place and information and pictures of just about anything can be found within its expanse. It also encompasses the whole world and as such brings immediate questions to the forefront of the mind. The main one being, “If the law on one thing is different in different countries, then what exactly is legal and illegal on the Internet, especially in the UK? Having searched around for the answer to this, I have had some difficulty in finding a clear and definitive answer to what you are and aren’t supposed to read, look at, participate in(!?!), and the closest, easiest article I came across in answer to this question is by Frank Bott, of the Department of Computer Science, University of Wales, Aberystwyth, in the text of the talk he gave at the Leicester branch of the British Computer Society in 2006.
